NC moves to vaccinate Agriculture workers: A look at the process

By: Lake Wood , Executive Producer

On Tuesday, North Carolina Governor Roy Cooper announced that the state will be moving to group three of the state's vaccination roll out plan. Group three covers frontline essential workers which includes those in the Agriculture community. Individuals who are a part of group three can begin getting vaccinated starting Wednesday.

Several providers across the state have been able to open up vaccine sites over the past few days to group three and this is one of the reasons the Governor says he has decided to allow the state to move forward. Among those providers is the Cape Fear Valley health system which has been vaccinating Group three since Friday at its facilities in Cumberland, Bladen, and Hoke Counties. I was able to get my first COVID-19 Vaccine today at the Health Pavilion North site off of Ramsey Street in Fayetteville and wanted to take you along and show you what the process looks like.

I first went to the state of North Carolina's vaccination site locator and searched for a provider near my zip code. Once I selected the provider I wanted I was redirected to the providers vaccine appointment scheduling tool where I answered a few questions and was able to then set up an appointment. A few moments after scheduling the appointment I received an email with a consent form that I was to print, fill out, and bring with me to my appointment.

I was instructed to get to my providers facility about 30 minutes before my appointment to go through the on site registration process. Once I arrived I received a card with a place number that would be called on a local radio station when it was my time. Once I went back an attendant asked me a few questions to verify my eligibility and then asked me for my ID, Insurance card and prefilled consent form. Once I was done with the on site registration I went to the Vaccine administration area where I very quickly sat down and my Vaccine was Administered.

After getting my Vaccine I was asked to stay at the facility for 15 minutes to ensure that I did not have a bad reaction to the Vaccine. After the 15 minutes was up I was out the door and am now set to return in a few weeks for my second dose which I am looking forward to.
